The Lady DJ, Teacher, Entrepreneur and the Artist
Maricel Mercado in real life was born on June 23, 1979. She was born and raised in Lipa City, Batangas, and the eldest of 11 siblings. At the age of 2, her parents had seen an indication for arts by making sketches in the wall’s and she likes colorful things and at that age she can already read and write. She had grown up as a shy child but independent. She joined in many art competitions in high school and she started working at the age of 16 but continued her studies in college with her BEED course but unfortunately she did not finished it instead she worked for her family. She is a hardworking and had 3 jobs in a week in 2000. She was teaching arts, working in another company and a FM Radio DJ at the same time. At the age of 21, she left her family and lived by her own and had her own tutorial center by the help of her friend. She also worked in many companies with higher positions, despite that she did not finish her college. In 2004 he was working in Da Best 98.5 FM, same year she had joined in the National Competition for the arts (OTSAA) with her students and brought awards home and that was the start of her TV and Movie Career. She worked as an Artist Art Director, Set supervisor, Production Supervisor for TV Shows, Soap Operas and Movie Production. In 2007 he became an Event Specialist and like a normal person, she also had the worst part of her life that put herself into a critical situation because of het personal and love life. But she’s a strong woman, struggled and survived. In 2008, her love for the arts bloomed once again. A stronger Chelony faced the world with a smile and she had joined in many group art exhibits in Manila. She Returned to 98.5 FM and left again for arts and became more active in arts activities. And one of them is the “The World’s Longest Painting”. In 2009, she was appointed as the 3rd President of LAPIS (Lapian Ng Mga Alagad Ng Sining) Batangas Arts Association. She organized art activities for LAPIS and competitions projects and events for herself and the students in different venue, schools and cities. She has done many Art Workshops and Art Exhibits since 2001 up to present. She also had and Art Tours in Belgium, Cape Town South Africa, and in different provinces here in the Philippines.
This year, she’s going back to Europe for an Art Tour. And she started making her documentary about some artists here and abroad. As of now, she’s a DJ of Magik 88.7 FM and will give summer Art workshops in selected schools and establishments. She enjoys her life being a DJ, a Teacher and an Entrepreneur, an Artist, a Mother of 2, a Housewife, a Home School Student with continues learning about her everyday life especially how to be called as a Woman.
She also believes that when you share the God given talents to others, it like you plant a tree that someday will grow, get taller and gives fruits. When she gets old, she will be proud that the big tree was once a seed from her hand.

MY TRIP TO BELGIUM ALONE
This was my first trip to Belgium and its unexpected because the first time I applied in the embassy i was denied but suddenly before my ticket got expired, i had a call from the embassy that my visa was approved and it was almost a year after i applied for a visa and i went to belgium on july 2010 , it was summer and great .
I have met the De Decker Family including the Bonnemaman ( Lola) I brought her my painting with the late Bompa in it . It was a bit emotional with her and Papa when I gave it to her but she was really happy with it. I also met some of Kris' cousins and relatives . That time also , Mama Mia and Papa Emile is still working so they are alternately bringing me to the places i want to go to like the best place ive been to " De Wieuw " a place where you can buy all the art materials you needed you can see it in one of the photos that i posted . We also went to the historical places like where you can find the painting of Reubens , the Cathedral where I was dreaming to go and the famous dog of Flanders, as i can still remember Nelo , he is the main character, the boy and the friend of Patrash , its a tv cartoon series that im always watching when i was young and i told myself that one day i will see thats church too , well i am so happy that mama mia brought me there and after that , we looked for a restaurant and we found PASTA and ofcourse we ate pasta with a big big plate, lol.
Me and Mama also went to the famous "Atomium " the first time i saw it was in Mel and Joey during their anniversary special and ofcourse , my Idol is Joey de Leon so I am watching that show. So , I told mama , I want to visit that place, then it was really amazing , its wonderful , unbelievable and amzing that people can really make a real building like that , you can see the belgium inside that atom. Take note , theres also a restaurant inside the atoms. After there, we went to the mini europe where you can see a lot of things and ofcourse the miniture of the best of europe well you have to see it by yourself. Me and Papa also went to a Glass exhibit i forgot where it is exactly was but its also amazing , once in a lifetime experience and i really treasuring it and unforgettable for me that i saw that exhibit, looks real and rare.
Before i go back to the Philippines , Papa brought me to Leonida's Belgian chocolate store . I was able to see many kinds of Belgian Chocolates , a lot of them , a lot of shapes and styles with different tastes. right now , im getting hungry when I remember that .
Still a lot of stories but I dont remember all coz now its a year ago that im writting it. Anyway I am now in Belgium and soon I will write another beautiful story about my 2nd vacation in Belgium. Bye for now
FROM THE HANDS OF MORE THAN 7000 ARTISTS , THE LONGEST PAINTING WAS SUCCESSFULLY FINISHED . AFTER A LONG LONG LONG PREPARATIONS FROM THE GROUP OF DOCTORS TO THE GROUP OF GOVERNMENT , MEETING FROM THE PRIVATE HOUSES TO THE GOVERNORS OFFICE TO MALACANANG.
IT WAS A HARD TASK, ITS HARD TO FIND VOLUNTEERS, BUT IT WAS SUCCESSFULLY DONE .
LAPIS HAD A BIG PARTICIPATION ESPECIALLY THE NEWEST MEMBERS , THEY ARE THE STUDENTS OF BSU BATANGAS ( BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY) HEADED BY THEIR ADVISER / ARTIST , MS. LEONIDA CORREA , THE TEAM WAS COMMANDED MOSTLY BY MR GRIEGO VIVE , A LAPIS MEMBER AND THE HEAD ARTIST OF CHELONY'S ART WORKSHOP. FROM THE HELP OF THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT THROUGH SIR PANCHO , THE EVENT HAD A HOME. THEY INSTALLED THE WOOD TO HUNG THE LONG CONTINUOUS CANVAS , THE ENGINEER AND HIS PEOPLE HAD NO ENOUGH SLEEP JUST TO FINISH THE TASK. OTSAA HEADED BY MR ROLLIE DE LEON WENT TO BATANGAS FOR THE MEETINGS AND SO ON , THEY FINALIZED TOGETHER WITH NCCA , OTHER AGENCIES, ASEAN DELEGATES AND MS CECILLE ALVAREZ. BATANGAS AWARDED AS THE ASEAN CULTURAL CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES. BUT NOT ALL THE THINGS HAPPENED THERE WAS NICE ,THIS EVENT HAD SO MUCH STRESS AND PRESSURE , PAIN,TEARS AND HUNGER. TWO DAYS LEFT BEFORE THE MAIN EVENT , WE THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS OK , THEN SUDDENLY THEY SAID NO PAINT. IM GETTING CRAZY BECAUSE WE ALL THOUGHT THAT SOMEBODY WILL SPONSOR THAT , BUT MS SYLVIA , THE OWNER OF MLD ENTERPRISES AND HUSBAND , THE PRESIDENT OF ROTARY LIPA TOLD US THEY CAN HELP BY SPONSORING THE PAINTS BY THE HELP OF WELCOAT, THEN THE NEXT DAY THEY DELIVERED THE PAINTS. ON THE D- DAY , THE VOLUNTEERS HAD NO SLEEP , THEY ARE HUNGRY AND NO BUDGET FOR THE FOOD, SOME PEOPLE SAID NONE OF THE MEMBERS ARE VISIBLE BUT THEY WERE THERE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS , NO SLEEP , NOT CLEAN AND NO FOOD. IT IS REALLY SAD , 2 OF THEM GOT SICK , TENSION WAS THERE , ME AND THE OTHER GUY ALMOST FIGHT AND THEY ALMOST ALL STEPPED OUT BECAUSE ITS REALLY A PRESSURE TO FINISH THE REMAINING CANVASES TO MAKE IT IN THE WORLD RECORD. ON THE OTHER SIDE , GMA 7 GAVE A FREE ENTERTAINMENT TO THE PEOPLE, MANY MEDIA PEOPLE ARE THERE , ABSCBN ,GMA 7, NEW PAPERS, MAGAZINES AND OUR LOCAL ONLINE MAGAZINE "WOW BATANGAS". WHILE THE OTHERS ARE LAUGHING AND CELEBRATING , THE OTHERS INSIDE WERE SUFFERING , MAYBE THATS THE LIFE. IN MY PART , IT WAS REALLY HARD , BECAUSE PEOPLE THOUGHT I DO NOTHING , THEY THOUGHT IM JUST RESTNG IN THE HOUSE , BUT THEY WERE WRONG , I GUESS ALL THE TASK WAS IN MY HANDS , I EVEN GETS CRAZY BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE TO DO FIRST , BUT WITH ALL THE PRAYERS , EVEN ITS HARD , EVEN NOBODY APPRECIATES WHAT I DID , EVEN THEY TAKE ME OUT FROM THE LIST IN THE PROGRAM , I WAS HAPPY FOR THEM , THE MOST IMPORTANT IS , MANY PEOPLE SMILED AND LAUGH AND CRIED .
